About Curious Minds Counselling

At Curious Minds Counselling, I provide a warm, compassionate, and trauma-informed space where you can explore life's challenges and work towards meaningful change.

I hold a Master of Counselling and am a Registered Nurse with over 12 years of healthcare experience. Combined with lived experience, my background allows me to support clients with empathy, authenticity, and understanding. Using a client-centered approach, I work alongside individuals experiencing anxiety, stress, trauma, grief, burnout, life transitions, relationship challenges, and other personal concerns.

My goal is to help you build greater self-awareness, resilience, and wellbeing in a safe and supportive environment where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to move forward.

Pricing and FAQ’s

What happens at the first appointment?

Your first appointment is an opportunity to get to know each other. We'll talk about what has brought you to counselling, what you're hoping to achieve, and whether we're a good fit to work together. There is no pressure to share everything in your first session.

How long is a counselling session?

Most appointments are 50 minutes.

How many sessions will I need?

Some people find a few sessions helpful, while others choose to attend over a longer period. We'll regularly review your progress together and decide what feels right for you.

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly without a referral.

Do you offer Medicare rebates?

Curious Minds Counselling is provided as a private service. Unfortunately, Medicare rebates are not yet available for Counselling services in Australia.

What are your fees?

Fees are $140 per session

What is your cancellation policy?

Please provide at least 24 hours' notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment.

Is what I say confidential?

Yes. Everything discussed during counselling is confidential, except in limited situations where disclosure is required by law, such as a serious risk of harm or certain legal reporting obligations apply. Confidentiality will be discussed in more detail before counselling begins.

What if I don't know where to start?

Many people feel unsure before their first appointment. We'll take things at your pace, and you don't need to have everything figured out before you arrive.

What if I become upset during counselling?

It's completely okay to experience emotions during counselling. This is a safe, supportive space where you're welcome to express yourself without judgement.

Is counselling right for me?

Counselling can be helpful if you're finding life difficult, feeling stuck, or simply wanting a space to better understand yourself. If I don't believe I'm the right person to support your needs, I'll discuss this with you and, where appropriate, help you find a more suitable service.

Are you neurodiversity-affirming?

Yes. Curious Minds Counselling is strongly committed to providing a neurodiversity-affirming environment. I recognise and respect that people experience the world in different ways, and tailor counselling to the individual rather than expecting people to fit a particular approach.

Can I bring a support person?

You're welcome to discuss this before your appointment. In some situations, having a support person attend part of a session may be appropriate.

Do you work with children?

I currently provide counselling for anyone over the age of 18.  If you're seeking support for a child, I'm happy to discuss appropriate referral options.

What if counselling isn't the right fit?

Finding the right counsellor is important. If I believe another service would better meet your needs, I'll discuss this openly with you and, where possible, provide appropriate referral options.

Do you prescribe medication?

No. Counsellors do not prescribe medication. If medication may be helpful, I can encourage you to discuss this with your GP or another appropriate healthcare professional.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Just yourself. If you'd like to bring notes regarding anything you'd like to discuss, you're very welcome to do so.

How do I book an appointment?

Simply click Book Now and complete the short Before You Book form. I'll review your enquiry personally and contact you, usually within one business day, to discuss the next steps.

Do I have to answer every question?

No, the sessions are designed to suit your needs, you can leave at any time during the session.
