At Curious Minds Counselling, your privacy is important. Personal information is collected so I can provide counselling services, communicate with you about appointments, maintain appropriate records, and meet legal, ethical and professional obligations.

What information is collected?

Information may include your contact details, emergency contact, health information you choose to share, session notes, correspondence, invoices and any other information relevant to providing counselling.

How your information is used

Your information is used only for purposes related to your counselling, administration of your appointments, and professional record keeping. Information will not be shared with other people or organisations without your consent unless required or authorised by law.

Confidentiality

Everything you discuss during counselling is treated confidentially. My aim is to provide a safe space where you can speak openly and honestly.

Limits to confidentiality

There are some situations where I may be legally or ethically required to share information without your consent. These may include:

• If there is a serious and immediate risk of harm to you or another person.
• If I am required by law to report concerns about the safety of a child.
• If records are required by a lawful court order or other legal process.
• Where disclosure is otherwise required or authorised under Australian law.

Where it is safe and appropriate to do so, I will discuss this with you before information is shared.

Storage of your information

Your records are stored securely and access is restricted. Records are retained in accordance with Australian legal and professional requirements.

Access to your information

You may request access to your personal information or ask for corrections if you believe information is inaccurate. Some legal or ethical limitations may apply.

Questions or concerns

If you have any questions about your privacy or confidentiality, please ask. I am happy to explain how your information is managed and answer any questions before or during counselling.
